OFF CAMPUS EVENTS
MCA sophomores take part in a team-building trip to the Peak Adventures Ropes Course at Sac State.
MCA seniors walk to a local taqueria to practice their Spanish while ordering Mexican food. They eat at Pokelma Park and walk back to campus.
MCA juniors walk to nearby Union Cemetery to learn about local history. Union Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in the Sacramento area. Students research the lives of some of the occupants and locate the headstones; they write a story about an occupant by drawing conclusions about their lives by cross-referencing their birth and death dates with local history.
MCA juniors take a bus to historic Old Sacramento to film informational features. Working in groups, they research specific locations and tell a story, featuring all group members as well as an interview with a knowledgeable source. All videos are edited upon return and submitted for an English and History grade.
MCA students enrolled in Advanced Broadcasting have the chance to visit the KCRA3 studio and watch the noon news. The students speak with the Promotions and News departments, while getting a tour of the studio, from the Control Room to the stage to the
MCA sophomores take part in the overnight trip to the Bay Area. Past itineraries included the U.S.S. Hornet, California Academy of Sciences, Oracle Park, the Exploratorium, Pier 39, San Francisco State's School of Cinema, Alcatraz, the Palace of Fine Arts, ending with a walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. Students are expected to complete an informational video about a specific part of the trip. Research is done before and all videos are edited upon return and submitted for an English and History grade.

In 2024, the students will visit Winchester Mystery House, San Jose State University, Monterey Bay Aquarium, UC Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Boardwalk, and Great America. Students are expected to complete an informational video about a specific part of the trip. Research is done before and all videos are edited upon return and submitted for an English and History grade.

In 2018, the students visited Downtown Disney, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Warner Brothers Studio Tour, UCLA, Pirates Dinner Adventure, Universal Studios, and Disneyland. Students are expected to complete an informational video about a specific part of the trip. Research is done before and all videos are edited upon return and submitted for an English and History grade.
PAST TRIPS
Students in the Advanced Broadcasting class took part in a tour of Golden1 Center in Downtown Sacramento. The tour started with a speech from Jason Ross of KHTK Sports 1140. Students then got to see the suite level, the locker room and bathroom, as well as go on the court.

While in Hawai'i, students visit the Hawai'i Army Museum, Manoa Loa Falls, Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, University of Hawai'i at Moana, Hanauma Bay, Dole Pineapple Plantation, the North Shore, Queen Lilioukalani's Palace, Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Nuuanu Pali Lookout, Byodo-In Buddhist Temple, and Germaine's Luau. Students are expected to complete an informational video about a specific part of the trip. Research is done before and all videos are edited upon return and submitted for an English and History grade.
